About Me

My name is Stephen Dalil. I’m currently a freshman at the College of William & Mary, and I’m interested in pursuing a major in Computer Science and a minor in Russian Language and Literature. I like this combination because it lets me pursue an interest in mathematics and prepares me for a job in the computer science world. Yet, I also get to foster my intellectual passion for world literature, specifically Russian Literature. Initially, I wanted to be a philosophy major! However, after taking a class in Symbolic Logic I was able to get a glimpse of the dazzling world of logic. I felt a renewed and boundless appetite for learning mathematics again, a feeling I hadn’t felt since elementary school. I decided to enroll in a Calculus and Computer Science course the next semester, alongside my Russian language and Russian literature courses. In that same semester, I dove deep into Fyodor Dostoevsky, an author I already loved, and in that course, I acquired a new understanding of his work. If knowing and learning about something demonstrates how much you love that thing, then since I know The Brothers Karamazov, I love The Brothers Karamazov. So it inspired me to take up a minor in a topic I was already passionate about. Today, I have an upcoming summer research project about Fyodor Dostoevsky that I’ll share more details about soon. In the meantime, enjoy the blog because I know I enjoyed writing it for you.
